What are the properties of copper?

1. Floating copper oxide and combined copper oxide
The so-called free copper oxide mineral is an independent form of copper oxide mineral, which can be dissolved in cyanide solution. The copper contained in this part of mineral is called free copper oxide, with good floatability.
Combined with copper oxide minerals, the copper in them is often combined with the oxides of silicon, aluminum, calcium, magnesium, manganese and other elements in the ore, forming an aggregate that is difficult to dissociate monomer and lacks the floatability of copper minerals. The copper in the combined copper mineral is called combined copper, and the percentage of the total copper content in the combined copper mineral is called the combined ratio.

The calculation formula is as follows:

Binding rate = (combined copper oxide content / total copper content of ore) × 100%

There are three ways to combine copper oxide with gangue:
(1) mechanically dispersed in gangue to form micro dispersed inclusions.
(2) The so-called chromosome is adsorbed on gangue in ionic or molecular state.
(3) Impurities as lattice combine with gangue.

3. Influence of gangue types on washability
The type of gangue also has a certain influence on the selectivity of copper oxide. Copper oxide with siliceous gangue is better to be treated, while copper oxide with carbonate gangue is more difficult to be selected. The oxidized copper ore containing more iron hydroxide and clay slime is more difficult to select.
Of course, because the treatment cost of oxidized ore is generally high, the copper grade of ore is of great significance to the evaluation of floatability and the selection of treatment methods.
