Graphite acid leaching ore dressing

Graphite acid leaching beneficiation process

The acid leaching method for purification includes methods such as hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, etc. Hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid are more suitable as leaching acids, with strong leaching ability, but some sulfates have lower solubility, and hydrochloric acid is more expensive; Nitric acid has strong volatility after oxidation, is prone to decomposition when exposed to light, and produces highly toxic phosgene, which is prone to explosion at high temperatures; Hydrofluoric acid cannot undergo reduction reactions or oxidation reactions. It can dissolve silicates and SiO2. After graphite is fully mixed with hydrofluoric acid, hydrofluoric acid will react with impurities in the graphite, generating volatile substances and compounds that are soluble in water. The soluble impurities inside can be removed by water washing method to obtain high-purity graphite.

Process flow

  • 1.Raw ore crushing:Crushing graphite raw ore into smaller particles for the subsequent acid leaching process.
  • 2.Grinding:Grinding the crushed raw ore to achieve appropriate fineness, which is beneficial for the contact between the acid leaching agent and the mineral surface.
  • 3.Acid leaching:Mix the ground ore with acid solvents (such as hydrofluoric acid or hydrochloric acid) for acid leaching treatment. Hydrofluoric acid can dissolve silicates and SiO2, react with impurities in graphite, and generate volatile substances and compounds that are soluble in water. Hydrochloric acid, on the other hand, has a strong leaching ability to remove impurities.
  • 4.Leaching solution treatment:Treat the acid leached liquid to remove soluble impurities. Soluble impurities can usually be removed by washing with water.
  • 5.Washing and drying:Wash the leached graphite to remove residual acids and other impurities, and then dry to obtain high-purity graphite products.

Technological advantages

  • 1.Efficient purification:The acid leaching method can effectively remove impurities in graphite and improve its purity.
  • 2.Low Energy Consumption:Compared with other purification methods, acid leaching method has lower energy consumption, which helps to reduce production costs.
  • 3.Flexibility:You can choose different acid solvents, such as hydrofluoric acid or hydrochloric acid, according to your needs.

The acid leaching method also has some disadvantages and needs to be noted

  • 1.Environmental pollution: Acid leaching method may produce highly toxic by-products, causing pollution to the environment. Appropriate safety measures and waste liquid treatment methods need to be taken during use.
  • 2.Safety risk:During the processing, acidic solvents and by-products may have volatility, corrosiveness, or high toxicity, requiring strict safety control and protective measures.
  • 3.Cost considerations:Choosing appropriate acid solvents and treatment methods requires comprehensive consideration of cost and effectiveness to ensure economic benefits.
  • Graphite acid leaching purification is an effective method for graphite purification, which can improve the purity of graphite, but at the same time, attention should be paid to environmental and safety risks. During use, appropriate safety measures and waste liquid treatment methods should be taken to ensure the safety of the production process and environmental protection.
