Combined process of laterite nickel ore selection and smelting

The combined process of laterite nickel ore beneficiation and metallurgy is a method that combines beneficiation and metallurgical processes, mainly used to extract nickel and other valuable metals from laterite nickel ore. The combined process of selection and smelting mainly includes two types: reduction roasting gravity separation magnetic separation process and reduction roasting flotation process.

The process of reduction roasting, gravity separation, and magnetic separation for laterite nickel ore is a method of treating laterite nickel ore, which is used in the Oekayama Smelter of Japan Metallurgical Company. This process combines multiple technologies such as reduction roasting, gravity separation, and magnetic separation to efficiently and economically extract nickel and other valuable metals.

1. Reduction roasting+gravity separation+magnetic separation process

  • 1.Raw ore drying:First, dry the laterite nickel ore to remove moisture from the ore.
  • 2.Reduction roasting:The dried laterite nickel ore is subjected to reduction roasting at high temperature. During the roasting process, the oxides in the ore are reduced to metal oxides, such as nickel oxides. This step usually needs to be carried out in a specialized furnace, such as a converter.
  • 3.Re selection:The roasted material is crushed and ground before re selection. Re selection is the process of separating nickel minerals from gangue minerals in nickel ore by utilizing the density differences of different components in the material and using methods such as hydraulic classification and heavy medium beneficiation.
  • 4.Magnetic Separation:The re selected material is further subjected to magnetic separation. Magnetic separation is the process of separating nickel minerals from other minerals through a magnetic separator, utilizing the magnetic differences of different components in a material.
  • 5.Nickel Product Extraction:The material after magnetic separation undergoes solid-liquid separation, drying, and other steps to ultimately obtain nickel products.

Technological advantages

  • Low production cost:This process reduces chemical treatment processes by combining physical beneficiation methods such as gravity and magnetic separation, thereby reducing production costs.
  • Low Energy Consumption:Compared to pyrometallurgical processes, this process has lower energy consumption. Mainly because physical methods such as gravity and magnetic separation have lower energy consumption compared to chemical methods.
  • Environmentally friendly:The process uses fewer chemical reagents and has a relatively small impact on the environment.
  • Easy to operate:The process flow is relatively simple, with fewer operating steps and lower technical requirements for operators.
  • The reduction roasting+gravity separation+magnetic separation process of laterite nickel ore is a low production cost, low energy consumption, and environmentally friendly method for treating laterite nickel ore.

2.Reduction roasting+flotation process

The reduction roasting flotation process is a method for treating laterite nickel ore. This method separates nickel and gangue by flotation after reduction roasting, ultimately obtaining nickel concentrate products.

  • 3.Crushing and grinding:The roasted material is crushed and ground to achieve appropriate fineness for flotation treatment.
  • 4.Flotation:Flotation of crushed and ground materials. Flotation is the process of using the surface properties of different components in a material to separate nickel minerals from other minerals by adding flotation agents. During flotation, nickel minerals will form foam with flotation agent, and then nickel minerals in foam layer will be collected through foam separator.
  • 5.Nickel concentrate extraction:After flotation, nickel minerals undergo solid-liquid separation, drying and other steps to ultimately obtain nickel concentrate products.

Technological advantages

  • Low energy consumption:Compared with pyrometallurgical processes, the reduction roasting flotation process has lower energy consumption. Mainly because flotation is a physical method that consumes less energy compared to chemical methods.
  • High comprehensive utilization rate:This process can effectively extract nickel from laterite nickel ore, improving the comprehensive utilization rate of resources.
  • Environmentally friendly:The process uses fewer chemical reagents and has a relatively small impact on the environment.
  • Easy to operate:The process flow is relatively simple, with fewer operating steps and lower technical requirements for operators.
  • The reduction roasting flotation process is a low energy consumption, high comprehensive utilization rate, and environmentally friendly method for treating laterite nickel ore.
