By re selection, some large and high-grade bauxite minerals are recovered in advance to obtain high-quality concentrate. The re selected tailings are used for flotation to improve the comprehensive recovery rate of bauxite.

Bauxite gravity+flotation process flow

1.Raw ore preparation:

  • The raw bauxite ore undergoes coarse and fine crushing to a certain particle size for subsequent processing.
  • The ore is dried to remove moisture and improve beneficiation efficiency.

2.Gravity beneficiation:

  • Gravity beneficiation is a process that utilizes the density differences of different minerals in ore to achieve separation. In gravity beneficiation of bauxite, high grade bauxite minerals with large particles are recovered in advance due to their high density.
  • Gravity beneficiation equipment usually includes vibrating feeders, gravity classifiers, shakers, etc., which can help separate high-density bauxite minerals.

3.Flotation process:

  • The tailings from gravity beneficiation, i.e. the mineral portion with lower density, will undergo flotation treatment. Flotation is a process of separation that utilizes the differences in surface properties of minerals and selectively attaches the target minerals to bubbles by adding reagents.
  • Flotation reagents include collectors, foaming agents, and adjusters. The collector is used to selectively adsorb on the surface of bauxite minerals, the foaming agent is used to generate foam, and the regulator is used to adjust the pH of pulp and the surface properties of minerals.
  • Flotation equipment includes flotation machines, mixing drums, thickeners, dryers, etc., which work together to separate bauxite minerals from other impurities in tailings.

4.foam collection and concentrate treatment:

  • During flotation, bauxite minerals float up to form a foam layer, which is collected by foam collection equipment to obtain high-quality bauxite concentrate.
  • The collected foam is dehydrated and dried to obtain a high grade bauxite concentrate containing a certain amount of water.
  • Concentrates can also be further processed, such as calcination, electrolysis, etc., to extract aluminum metal.
